New Blue Spirit Breath Retreat April 2024 to be announced mid-November.

All Costa Rica Breath Retreats have sold out out within a few days of release. Be the first to know by signing up on the WAIT LIST.

What can breathing do for you?

For thousands of years ancient cultures used breathing as a medicine to help heal the body and calm the mind. Modern science has more recently shown that harnessing our breath can measurably reduce stress, blood pressure, anxiety, depression, snoring, chronic headaches, and even asthma as well as some autoimmune diseases.

In this immersive retreat, we’ll explore a new breathing practice each day, from relaxing and restorative techniques to more highly-energizing breathwork methods that heat the body up, lull it into a heightened immune response, and shift states of consciousness.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience is ALL INCLUSIVE of breathing instruction and practice, individualized assessments and training, alignment and biomechanics, meals and non-alcoholic beverages, and all access to Yasuragi’s baths, spas and saunas. You’ll connect with extraordinary humans from all over the world.

At the close the retreat each guest will leave with a toolbox of breathing practices to improve mental and physical state, anytime and anywhere, for years to come.

Buteyko Breathing Technique • Kundalini Tummo • Kriyas • Qi Gong • Pranayama • Resonant Breathing

About Yasuragi

Read more at the Yasuragi website.

Yasuragi is more than just a spa. Inspired by the traditional Japanese bathing culture we have created a place where you can exhale and calm down your nervous system. Mental and physical healing starts when we activate our parasympathetic nervous system. We feel a greater connection to our own needs and are able to show more empathy towards our fellow human beings

The Japanese word Yasuragi can be translated as the long deep exhale you make when you really let go and relax. For example, when you, after washing yourself in the Japanese way, slowly sink into a hot spring. You exhale.

We want it to be easy for you to be our guest at Yasuragi. When you check in, you will receive a yukata, a Japanese cotton robe and slippers. These you wear throughout your stay; when staying in the Japanese bath, when moving around the house and for your meals. You also get swimwear from us. These are the ones you wear in the Japanese bath. The idea that everyone wears the same yukata and swimwear is to make it easy for you to visit us, and also that we want the environment around you to be quiet and free from too many impressions. You can keep the swimwear after your visit, the yukata and slippers you return.

Everything that Yasuragi offers in the form of a simple aesthetic, hot and cold baths, saunas, meditation and other beneficial activities aims to calm the nervous system. Not to forget the proximity to nature. Things  people for millennia have used to relax and where the Japanese have been masters at refining rituals around.

With the help of an external form of how we do certain things, we can begin to relax within and get more in touch with ourselves and our inner power.  Simplified, it can be said that the sympathetic nervous system is activated when the body needs more power, while the parasympathetic is most busy when we rest.

When the brain perceives that we need to be alert, for example at work, when we exercise or in social contexts, the sympathetic system is set in motion and releases stress hormones such as cortisol, norepinephrine and adrenaline.

When our brain perceives that it can give the body permission to go from the alert stage back to rest, the parasympathetic system is activated, which regulates energy-saving functions and generates reconstruction.  It is when the parasympathetic system is activated that the body can recover. And that's what happens when you give yourself the opportunity to relax with the help of everything we offer.
